Poor Boys Custom was founded by Dennis Carter in 2010, but the story really starts much earlier. Dennis has been working in the trades for more than 25 years — learning painting, carpentry, siding, and drywall the way you really learn them: by doing the work, every day, on real homes for real homeowners.
Today, Poor Boys Custom is family-owned and operated out of Andrews, South Carolina. We serve 11 cities across the SC Lowcountry and Grand Strand — from Charleston single houses to Pawleys Island beach cottages — and we treat every home the same way: with the care and craftsmanship we'd want on our own family's house.

Why "Poor Boys"?
The name comes from working-class roots — a tip of the hat to the hardworking families who built the Lowcountry one nail and one brushstroke at a time. We're proud to be the contractor that ordinary homeowners can actually afford and actually trust.

Coastal South Carolina has its own climate — humidity, salt air, brutal summer sun, pollen, and storms that test every exterior surface. Working here for 25 years means we know which prep steps matter, which materials hold up, and which shortcuts will cost you in five years. Out-of-town crews don't have that knowledge. We do.
